Final Results from the Final FAVC Swimming/Diving Championships

A first glance the final results from the 15th and final FAVC Swimming/Diving Championships seem very predictable and routine, but a closer look reveals a pair of anything but routine championships. In perhaps the closest championship in boys’ history, TURPIN edges intra-district rival, ANDERSON by a scant 3 points, 274-271 to claim the East crown and its 10th straight title.

Equally impressive was the 573 points scored by the TALAWANDA boys in easily outdistancing second place HARRISON (334) by 239 points to win the West division title. A review of available on line history shows this to be the first time any school has scored over 500 points in the FAVC Swimming/Diving Championships.

On the girls’ side TURPIN wins its 11 overall crown and its 10th in a row in capturing the East championship, while TALAWANDA wins its 6th consecutive title and moves into 2nd place all-time having won the swimming championship every year it was in the FAVC, but their first year, 2006, when TURPIN won the title.

The TURPIN Boys’ 200Free Relay team of Philip Englert (Jr.), Alex Kenney (Sr.), Will Sparks (Sr.) and Tommy Easley (Sr.) broke the record set by ANDERSON in 2011. The new mark is 1:28.94.
